Riverside Car Accident Leaves Young Girl in Critical Condition after CHP Patrol Car Collides with Vehicle

| Aug 26, 2014 | Firm News

An 11-year-old girl was left in critical condition after a California Highway Patrol car collided with a passenger vehicle on Sunday, August 24, 2014.  The car accident occurred as both vehicles were traveling north on Green River Road at Highway 91 in Riverside County, according to a news report from The Press Enterprise.

The CHP officer was traveling on the slow lane of Green River Road, while the driver of a white 1996 Mitsubishi Mirage was traveling north in the fast lane.  For reasons still under investigation, the CHP officer veered left and hit the front passenger side of the Mirage.  The passenger in the back seat, an 11-year old girl, suffered major injuries and had to be cut from the wreckage by firefighters.   The girl was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana in critical condition.  The police are still investigating the cause of this heartbreaking accident.

Riverside car accidents are all too common and often result in serious injuries.  These auto accidents can be traumatic, life-altering events due to the dangers of driving and riding in motor vehicles.  According to the CHP Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System, approximately 7,446 people were injured in car accidents in 2012 in Riverside County alone, and of those injuries, 202 suffered fatal injuries as a result of a car accident. Victims of auto accidents often experience head and neck injuries, broken bones, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), nerve damage or spinal cord paralysis, loss of the use of a limb, or even the loss an entire limb, and other serious life-altering injuries.
